Rivulet of Hope

By Olaniyi Ololade Moses

Sometimes, life tells you to run — away from your body

Because your body holds scent of griefs,

Fractured memories and records of gloom.

Your soul break like weary leaves fallen from a tree.

You’re a reflection of gloomy memory; home burnt

Father and Mother became ashes,

blue song and dead dream.

Sadness became an inborn,

sorrow became an inalienable right.

You became a waterloo of dismay.

But night like this, douse yourself in a rivulet

Let your tears mix with water.

Tender your grief at the feet of Allah

and your grief shall become an history.
